ENJOYING HISTORY AND BUBBLEGUM WHILE AT DEVON

The main house was sold years ago to the hospital. It was used for many years to house the hospital's nuns and they provided on-site hospice care to the elderly. Recently the home made it's way back to the family and Marta's cousin, Phoebe, renovated the home back to it's original floor plan with a few modern twists. Beautiful home to raise her young family!!!
This is the carriage house that has been occupied by a family friend for years. The stone work is incredibly well crafted and interesting.

There are numerous stone walk ways, from house to house, and garden to garden, to be found everywhere on the estate. This iron handle was my favorite!!

The family calls this house the caretaker's house....but, it has been occupied by Marta's grandparents for decades. It, too is beautiful in every way.
While at DRESSAGE AT DEVON BREED SHOW 2010, we had a chance to stay at the Mustin's Family Estate right outside of Philadelphia. Marta's family is rich in history as the Mustin Family invented BUBBLEGUM and TRADING CARDS in the late 1800's.....too cool!!! If you have ever seen the crown symbol on a bubblegum wrapper, then you have had Fleer Corporation bubblegum. The family was very generous to host Claudia, Chuck and I, and we had a wonderful timing getting to know them better after having spent so much time with Marta this past summer. Above are pictures of their lovely estate surrounded by beautiful gardens and landscape. Thanks for having us as your guests!!!
