Erica and Clifford were in the outdoor this week for an early morning ride......and they had this spectacular visitor. Mr. Snooty was not fast enough on the draw to retreat before this wonderful picture was captured.
We have also had an out break of snapping turtle babies in the barn aisle....literally, they are minuscule in size. We took some photos from a small, handy camera at the time, but have been having difficulties in uploading them to this blog. So, here is the full scoop....a year ago, after sand was delivered to the outdoor, there was a gigantic snapping turtle burrowing into the sand (Brianne captured the pic on her cell phone).....we thought it was nifty at the time but that was about all. Now, a year later, I have read that it takes about this much time for the turtle eggs to hatch......it's been a year and now all the babies are making their way into the barn aisles!!! TOO COOL. I will work on the picture downsizing so that the blog will accept the pics, but to all the animal lovers out there reading, we did, I promise you, search the sand after the mom placed here eggs. I wonder how any of them survived after a year of daily dragging/raking of the outdoor arena?? We also have relocated all of the babies into the nearest streambed for survival. Will have to read up more on this hatching process.
