Thornridge is Truly Alive With Spring Bundles of Joy: WE HAVE KITS!!!!!

Chuck telephoned me at the barn and said: "Come find me and bring the big camera!"  Somehow, I knew where he was and suspected that he had seen the kits for the first time.....however, I wondered to myself, heck, if this had been an emergency, did we really need to play the game of FIND WALDO?  LOL :)  So, I walked down the hill to the meadow, camera ready, and found this great shot -- trust me, I did not ask how his phone photos turned out..............

But, Chuck's phone photography certainly served me well as he frightened some little ones out from under the cover of tall spring grass.  This poor fellow was huffing and puffing as he flighted by me.....I really felt guilty at the time but his documented run completely outweighed those those original thoughts!!

His sibling made it back to covert first and then just turned to look at me.....now, that was LUCKY!!!!

The next day, we took some time, and cocktails, down to the den and had some fun with the camera.

We believe there are actually 6 of them........just hanging out and enjoying a playful life!!!

I made sure that the fields immediately near this special den were not mowed down -- after all, our farm friends need some safety cover.  People at barn said I was silly to do that as the moma will move them soon any way....but, guess what?.... they are still here and they are still alive, maybe 7, I believe.  The moma has kept them in same spot for longer then expected and every evening, Chuck and I sit on our front porch and enjoy watching her bring them some fresh kill.  Unfortunately, every morning, for the last week, I sit on front porch with cup of coffee in hand and watch a very scary hawk fly low and toward that special den.  Note to self: must learn how to use a pellet gun so I can defeat that hawk before he wrangles one of Thornridge's special spring 2012 kits.  I suspect these kits have arrived to celebrate all of the foal activity we have this unusual Thornridge year.
