We could not wait for Chuck to arrive home at 6 pm yesterday, so Claudia, Erica and I headed off to pick up 'our girls' without the official bus driver. We called Chuck half way to the foaling station and told him we had left already....he was not so pleased he had been left out. Star got out of the trailer, took a deep breath......she was happy to be home.
Star is truly a wonderful maiden mom -- she loves her baby without being overly cautious and protective of her. Baby A was actually in the lead entering the barn door.....I wonder if she, too, knew she was home? I suspect Star had told her all about life at Thornridge..........
TODAY: Atty and Star go outside for the first time at Thornridge!!! The whole experience was truly uneventful as Star would rather eat grass....but, luckily for us, Country called for Star and I was able to capture at least a few action shots. Ugh, this foal just warms my heart!!!!!
There were several shots where I was able to capture mom and foal in-sync...I especially like this photo as there is a special man down the hill (invisible to all looking at this blog) that is watching and happy that all his friends are home. Claudia & I are fortunate to have a guardian angel take care of us......truly.
Today, at 3 weeks old, I saw, for the first time ATTY kick up her heels and play. Having a foal here just seems so natural to me and brings so much joy to everyone here. I may need to rethink my statement: "we are not breeders." Heck, what will it hurt having a foal or two every year....geeze, we are having fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
