Veronica & I started the show off with a Tr 2 BLM Qualifying score of 68.4%. We were the second ride, of the entire show, in a huge class, so I was happy that this score held off for 5th place final ribbons. I wonder where our placing would have been if we had not been the second ride of the show??? She was rocking it...............
Our second ride on Sat was scheduled for 5:30 pm but there were issues getting the young horse class started off on time -- we rode at well past 6pm. That is 9.5 hours between rides...yikes, it's lucky that either one of us was still awake!!!!
Baby V was feeling a tired for our first ride on Sunday at Tr 3, so I kept the warm-up under 10 mins and we went in the ring and did our thing -- she ended up 2nd place out of a HUGE Tr3 class, 69% Qualifying for Gaig. All great scores to be had so far, but I was concerned that she was too tired to perform her best in the next class, which was the reason we were at the show to begin with?????????????? After all, she is just 5 months undersaddle and building stamina and strength are a staple in our daily training goals.........

Oh, YEAH, she was pooped for the qualifying class....so, I learned my lesson of future reduced classes from now on!!! And, oh yeah, I was pooped getting her around the ring -- I knew it was not our best ride of the weekend, but, as I circled in front of the judges I was confident that they HAD to have seen what an amazing horse she is...I have always felt that when it comes to quality, few can compare. I believe in Veronica, and I know that her ride is near incomparable...she wants to please me every step she takes. WELL......Judges LOVED us as a team -- they were very complimentary about the ease of my presentation and about her quality. So, I'd say that we did pretty well WINNING the class of 11 horses presented with a Markel Qualifying score of 83%!!!! Needless to say, I am totally thrilled, but to be very honest, I know my 'sleepy sweetheart' can get better scores, yet, still. I will not, however become complacent in this process, by any stretch -- as I said to my crew before I entered the ring on Sunday...."GAME-ON." Veronica and I are a team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Veronica is much like her sire, Vinca -- they LOVE to take afternoon siestas. Within a minimum of 10 mins after my first ride at every show, Veronica is down for the count and snoring in her stall. The only time she makes any noise is when I peep in at her.....then she gives me a sweet nicker. Often, I spend some down time sitting with her in the stall and just itching her favorite spots....some would say, I have spoiled her....but she is so well behaved, I call it pampering. UGH, I cannot wait till breeding season is over and Vinca and I are ready to make our showing debut together....exciting times ahead!!!!!!
