Heirloom at 1 week old.......
I know Vinca well, but it was no surprise to me that Technique is AMAZING......power is what comes to mind. It was a very special treat to finally have time to visit Flower Farm for the first time and meet all of the wonderful horses that I have heard to much about. Folks, Ginger's program is top notch!!
Heirloom is looks just like "The Dear-Veronica," but with more pizazz......after all, he is a red-head!!! Wonderfully people oriented, brave, and well, he certainly has a mind of his own. I LOVE HIM....as I knew I would even before he was born!!!!!
Ginger and I discussed his purchase -- basically, I said, what is he gonna cost me?? So, yes, it is official, I will be Heirloom's best friend in 6 months after he is weaned. He represents, now, the youngest horse that I have ever bought (Windy was at 8 month of age). And, he is NOT FOR SALE -- sorry, this one is for ME!!! Life is often unexpected and Heirloom purchase is ALL from my heart. I figured that my heart purchase of Romy and the still "cooking" Calvin served me well, so I know that Heirloom will bring me as much pleasure. While at Flower Farm, Ginger asked me if I wanted to name him, but I just love his name as is and it actually fits me so well that it was the meant-to-be choice for Flower Farm & Thornridge. While on drive home, I was so excited all I could think of was deciding on a stable name for him. I had lots of idea, but kept coming back to my original thought of TOMATO. It may sound quirky at first but I actually have only had one odd response to the name -- yup, that was Chuck -- he said "are you serious?" Yes, I told him -- I want to emrace his redness....hah!!!! So, meet The Tomato aka: 'Mater....and, when he is silly (as I suspect he will be), we can all call him The Rotten Vegetable!!!!! Many smooches to Tomato........
