Cramming Time: I Had a Chance to Go To The SOUTHEAST STALLION SHOWCASE On Feb 22, 2012, Canterbury Showplace

This is BENIDETTO: 2004 AHS Stallion by Belissimo M. I was really wowed by this gorgeous guy....and knowing that Romy matched so well with a B-Line Stallion in the past, I may, in the future breed to this young talent that keeps proving himself in the dressage ring!!

This is ZAKAI: 2007 Friesian that Juliana has as a front runner for Foxy's next Baby Daddy. What a wonderful disposition this majestic guy has. I had the opportunity to meet his owner and his rider and all are a class act that we would be happy to do business with.

This is ERAMAY: He is a 2005 Buckskin Akhal-Teke. This is certainly not my best photo of this interesting stallion, but it is the one that shows off his innate glow to his coat the best. This long, lean and silky coated breed is known for just that....a glimmering and gliding presentation. How cool would this stallion be matched with THE FOX?? I had the opportunity to met his owner and she has long, red, eccentric locks as well....LOVE IT!!! For more info on this breed, please view her website at www.AbsoluteAkhalTeke.com What fun!!!

WARMBLOODS TODAY was one of the major sponsors of the event, so I had a chance to meet the owner of this wonderful magazine. And come to find out, the horse pictured on the front cover of the March/April 2012 issue is by PABLITO......yup, that is our new Sampson's baby daddy!! But, even more interesting.......

Yours Truly: Yup, that's me riding Roo on page 48. Actually the first two photos are mine from Thornridge and the the bottom left photo is mine from a visit in Jan 2011 to FLF. Juliana and Flying Lion Farm were featured in an article on "How Slow Sport Horses Grow." So, it was a cool and unexpected surprise to see myself riding in these photos.

Entering into my last week in FL, I was not too sure how I would be able to pull off a morning away and head down to Gainesville to see the Stallion Showcase. But, my VT friends kept a close eye on my kids in my absence. I was able to spend time with Juliana and Gary and look over some possible matches for Foxy breeding this season. I know everyone is going to think that I have lost my mind, but I do so, love the idea of the shinny coated Akhal-Teke....how cool?? Friesian is always top on the list, too, as we have always thought of Foxy as our albino Friesian, anyhow. And then there was a wonderful Lusitano Stallion named Absoluto da Prata that peaked my interest as well. Hummmm.....I have to admit, I also like the idea of Escudo with The Fox, but, of course he did not make the trip from CA to FL for this Stallion Showcase!!!

The handler, Dean Graham, did a super clinic-like explanation of general handling techniques. I learned a lot from him and hope that Chuck will listen to my new found knowledge the next time we practice with the youngsters -- I know lot of you are getting a kick out of this....LOL!!! And, even though my fingers were crossed to win a free breeding of my choice, I did end up being the winner of a HUGE basket of supplies from a local tack/feed store....Thanks!!! Juliana ended up winning a 10 day all expense paid for trip to the local reproductive clinic....so this may come in handy for frozen and or embryo transfer breeding!!! Yeah for us, we won something!!
