Suzanne flew in from MD on the Wed before the weekend show and, geeze, was she sick!! She survived a tough lesson on Wed afternoon, but by Thurs she was truly in bad shape and was unable to ride. Chuck and I did as much packing and preparing for the show that we could for her so that she could rest more, but for anyone that knows Suzanne, it is no great surprise that she still kept herself busy rather then fully resting up for the day. Off to the show we went on Fri and while schooling Brisk on the show grounds, poor Suzanne got overheated and actually barfed off the side of her horse....yikes!! On Sat, the cold weather and a brutal chill set in for an already compromised rider, but Suzanne rallied and competed both 2nd 2 & 3. Both tests were greatly improved from the last show and much cleaner in general; however, staying on course still seems to elude the pair :). Even with errors, and a very low scoring judge, Suzanne and Brisk remained in the high 50's and placed 4th and above. The weather on Sun was even more bone chilling then on Sat -- not very conducive temps for feeling better!! But, Suzanne, yet again was a sport and performed two very lovely 2nd level rides. Her lateral work was much smoother, she took all her correct counter canter leads, and her medium paces covered greater ground. The pair secured scores into the 60's with placings up to 2nd.....Congrats!!! Now, the three goals for the next show are: to be healthy, stay on course and not to over-think/over-ride the walk pirouettes!!!
